Do I need a Social Security number (SSN) to open an account?

You do not need a SSN to open an Adro account. If you choose to open a credit card with us, you’ll be able to start building credit history, even without a SSN.

Is the Adro account FDIC-insured?

Every account you open with Adro is FDIC-insured up to $250,000 through Stearns Bank N.A., Member FDIC.

Is Adro a bank?

Adro is a financial technology company, and not a bank. Banking services like our checking account, savings account and credit card are provided by Stearns Bank N.A., Member FDIC, pursuant to a license from Mastercard®.

How long does it take before I can make purchases?

You can sign up with Adro before or after you arrive in the US, and add money to your account upon account approval. Once you have arrived in the US, you’ll get immediate access to your Adro card and can start making purchases with Apple Pay and Google Pay.

How does Adro make money?

We make money on the interchange, which is money a store merchant pays to accept credit/debit cards. Adro also makes money through revenue share with our partners, including Stearns Bank N.A. We do not make money by charging subscription fees or access fees.
